The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Your Season 2 Bingo Cards — With Some Good News

The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been intense.

The first season introduces a diverse group of personalities residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with songs detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.

The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.

That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.

"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."

She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.

"I've come across a couple people create a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
