Around 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland were left without power on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the area, producing strong winds hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

State Emergency Services received nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, primarily for building damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

• Wyndham area - nearly 180 emergency requests

At one point on the previous day, over 28,000 power users in Victoria were without power.

Climate Outlook

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.

Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent storm activity anticipated across various areas of both areas.

Safety Concern

Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the current weather patterns.
